Partial Opening of the Buzău East Interchange on DN2B: Traffic to Start on July 11

11-07-2025

Traffic is officially open on the bridge over the Buzău River, including the roundabouts connecting to DN2B in the Buzău East area. This marks the partial opening of the Buzău East Interchange, a crucial infrastructure node on the A7 motorway.

The construction project, led by general contractor NUROL, began in 2022 and is considered one of the most complex infrastructure undertakings in Romania.

Elektra Invest, a top Romanian company in electrical infrastructure and ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems), contributed significantly to this milestone by delivering lighting systems, power grids, data networks, and traffic signaling infrastructure, enabling rapid and secure commissioning.

“This is a key milestone in improving traffic flow between Moldova and Bucharest. With the partial opening of the interchange and bridge, traffic congestion will be reduced by approximately 50% on the Mărăcineni bridge and Buzău's northern ring road,” project officials stated.

The Buzău Bridge is one of the longest bridges in Romania, built to European standards and equipped with energy-efficient lighting and ITS technology. It is designed to seamlessly integrate into the broader A7 Motorway network.

This partial opening represents a significant achievement, not just for regional traffic flow, but also for Romania’s growing capability to deliver strategic national infrastructure projects on time and at scale.
